Iran’s HR chief:

HR status in certain Arab states far worse than Iran

TEHRAN, Dec. 16 (MNA) – Head of Iran’s High Council of Human Rights says that if human rights reports were factual and impartial, some Arab and regional countries would have been condemned for violation ten times more than Iran.

“Since our Revolution was put into place, we have been attacked on human rights issues with resolutions from day one till the last day,” said Mohammad Javad Larijani, the Secretary General of Iran's High Council for Human Rights, on Saturday.

The Iranian official made the remarks addressing the special session on Manifestation of Human Rights Standards in Iran's Penal Code, in Tehran.

He went on to add, “the question is why we are always attacked on human rights. Why are we always accused?"

"They say some apparatuses are broken and corrupt in Iran like police, the judiciary system, et cetera. Regardless of the saying that whether they are right or wrong, let’s suppose that they are right; then why Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, UAE, Pakistan, and Turkey are not judged on their human rights status, even the Zionist regime which is totally against human rights. Why they are not questioned?," he said.

"So, this is not the reason," Larijani said. "Because if we agree with cause and effect reasoning, then they had to be questioned ten times more than us.”
